The World Gold Council has named David Lamb, a renowned name in the gem and jewelry industry, as Managing Director of Jewelry, Diamond World reported.

Lamb’s professional portfolio includes tenure as an Executive Director of the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) – the sales and marketing arm of De Beers, as Worldwide Marketing Director and subsequently Chief Strategy Officer.

At De Beers' he was widely credited with significantly increasing consumer demand for diamond jewelry, principally through a series of powerful global innovations, such as the Trilogy concept (“For your past, your present, your future”), which he devised.

Lamb also has over 20 years experience working with leading international advertising agencies, especially as executive vice president at JWT.

At the World Gold Council, Lamb will work on strategic evelopment of the global gold jewelry market, as well as on enhancing the premium market.

“We are delighted to welcome David to the WGC as he has a proven track-record of break-through thinking and creativity which will be of particular value to the WGC and its partners in jewelry markets around the world," said Aram Shishmanian, CEO of the WGC.

"I am sure his vision and depth of experience will help e-invigorate the premium gold jewellery market in the United States and guide the continued growth of the markets in China, India and the Middle East.”
